Response time

is Dynatrace measure response time through icmp request?

Based on article, Dynatrace primarily focuses on application performance monitoring (APM). Does not measure response time through ICMP (Internet Control Message Protocol) requests. ICMP is commonly used for tools like ping to check the reachability of a network host and measure round-trip time, but I think it is not a reliable indicator of application performance.

There are several ping extensions, and I have authored more than one. Please let us know your use-cases, so we can help you with the best options.

@Pawel_Zalewski, don't agree totally with you: more and more, with cloud applications and countries like mine, Portugal, a little bit far away from the cloud, the impact of network latency is sometimes high, mainly when no edge CDNs are used. Monitoring network latency/RTT it is a must in a lot of my clients...

You both are right.

ICMP is not a reliable indicator of application performance.
Network infra can impact users' experience.
