What is Custom Metrics in Dynatrace?

I want to know what is custom metrics and how it work in dynatrace.

Custom Metrix are use for example when you want push some data to dynatrace via API. For example you have device that cannot be monitored by dynatrace, but you can extract some metrix from it. Another options are plugins that can push some extra metrics to DT.
