Availability monitoring

We have a requirement to monitor application login and homepage availability 24*7 but not with synthetic monitoring.

Could you please provide us with the available options?

Hi,

Why are you not able to use Synthetic monitoring?  Can you use regular RUM?  You could potentially mark some key requests on the backend, and key user actions on the front end.  Still curious why you can't use synthetic monitoring.

When passion meets people magic and innovation happen.

I have a similar situation in which we can't use synthetics due to security and privacy concerns.

We do have these apps configured and are collection 100% user sessions on them.

I'm wondering what metrics we can use to infer that there "could" be an availability issues.

Within Dynatrace, Availability is directly linked to synthetics. Keeping cost in mind, you could set up a basic HTTP monitor that test your application every 30 mins from 1 location at an estimated cost of $10 per year. Granted that cost is dependent on your current license/contract.

Hi,

You can use RUM but it only works if you application have users 24x7 also.

Monitoring availability 24x7 is a perfect example to use Synthetics monitoring.
