Hi guys, I need your help again today!
We have set up a bunch of Synthetic monitors to fulfill the E2E monitoring of several applications. Now I need to set up maintenance windows that will suppress the alerting for Synthetics based on tags. As the Maintenance Windows classic is quite conservative in terms of schedule, I decided I will use the new Maintenance windows app. So I did the following:
1) The timeframes for which the maintenance windows need to be active are various (around 50 variations for different monitors. Some synthetics are within the scope of several timeframes). Here are some examples:
Synthetic1 should NOT alert: Every Monday 15:00-16:00; Every Monday, Wednesday, Friday 00:00-05:00; On Bank Holidays; every 5th day of the month 01:00-03:00. - Tags: MW:W1_1500_1600; MW:W135_0000_0500; MW:BankHolidays; MW:M5_0100_0300 (see point 3)
2) I have created rules (Settings > General > Automation Rules) for the occurrences I need: Every Monday; Every Sunday, Every Saturday and Sunday, Every 5th day of the month; Bank Holidays, etc.
3) I have created manually applied tags and assigned them to the synthetic monitors like described in point 1. It's similar to how cronjob scheduling looks like.
4) I went to the new Maintenance windows app, selected the Recurrence rule, start time and duration and here the issue hit me hard! I realized that the new maintenance windows are supposed to be used over Metrics, Events and Sessions. So when I tried to define the scope of entities to which the maintenance window should be applied, using the tags I have created I got nothing.
Is it really possible that the new app for maintenance windows lacks the functionality of the classic app and you cannot select entities with it?
If that's the case it's a pity!
Currently I am in a situation where:
- I have the Rules, but I cannot use them in Maintenance windows classic.
- I have the Synthetic monitors tagged, but cannot use that as a scope of the New Maintenance windows app
Has anyone faced something similar?
In another thread here I saw the Synthetic for Workflows app in the hub, but it looks too complicated t achieve what I need. Also I think it's an overkill and probably it will bring some costs for Workflow execution. And I am not even sure if it would help me achieve what I need.
Any help would be highly appreciated!
All the best,
Georgi

P.S:
I saw these options to the Scope field (which makes me think entities should be also possible to select):
however when I use dt.entity.http_check or dt.entity.synthetic_test I get nothing
