Yes. This is in our plans, and it’s designed to make managing Synthetic monitors significantly easier for users!
We are transitioning Synthetic to the Dynatrace Platform API, which will replace the current RBAC-based API. This transition will allow us to introduce a dedicated set of Synthetic-specific privileges (enabling read and write Synthetic settings). These new privileges will allow users to create and manage synthetic monitors without needing full administrator rights. This provides a much more streamlined and flexible solution compared to relying on security contexts.
Because this model will be based on the new Dynatrace Platform API, the latest Dynatrace will be required to access the new Synthetic-specific privileges. The new privileges will be fully supported within the new Synthetic application. This way, it will benefit not only automation practitioners but also standard users managing Synthetic through the modern UI.
