Custom Integration - Site Local URL's

I found another important point to be added to the documentation of SaaS vs Managed.

Before moving to SaaS, I had several integrations with local URL's, I mistakenly thought that this is done through Active Gate Local Connectivity, but when I tried to configure in SaaS I've received the Reason: The environment does not allow for site-local URL's.

I can't expose these local servers to the Internet. How can i solve this? Any ideas? Does it have any meaning to write a forum idea to use local AG connectivity?

Hi @DanielS how about using a tool like ngrok to tunnel  and deliver ingress to the private IP and expose a public address which you can use for the custom Integration

Just thought about this again. It still presents the same problem as initially stated that allows the endpoint to be accessed publicly which takes us back to the original problem.😁

This would also be a good forum idea @DanielS to enable local Activegates capability to enable custom integrations whereby the endpoint is local. I have had a similar situation with Ansible whereby the Ansible Instance was not accessible publicly and therefore it was difficult to perform the Integration on SAAS seamlessly for local on site platforms since the cluster would need IP addresses to be white listed to these instances which normally starts a long-winded security and risk discussion

Hi @echwallah . I can generate the idea, but I'd like confirmation from the Dynatrace team that using Local AG isn't crazy. I don't know if it's feasible to do something like that.

That would be great @DanielS. To me feasible or not, I believe there should be a roadmap and/or plan to achieve such a scenario without exposing the end points publicly. The use-case to me seems pretty obvious and more importantly I have encountered a similar scenario

Ok, I agree. I'm going to generate the idea and while I wait to see if any workaround comes up.

Thanks @DanielS I will keep an interested eye on this and how Dynatrace plans to resolve the same with a solution using its own local Activegate(s) Infrastructure. Possibly an enhancement of their capabilities to allow custom Integrations and problem Notifications. Who knows😎
