The winner of the Employee Member of the Month for May 2020 is one of our software developers, that works mostly on browser monitoring. Congratulations to @Mateusz K., who not only makes our software better every day but also finds time to share his knowledge about the Dynatrace with our users in the Community. Let’s hear from him in this interview:
Can you tell a little bit about your professional life? What is your role in the company and what do you do in your job?
I am working on private browser monitors within the Synthetic teams as one of the software developers. The topics I’m working on can range from taking care of our REST APIs to investigating the needs of our customers running private browser monitors within their corporate network.
What Dynatrace products do you use? What do you like the most about them?
I’m mostly using our Synthetic products – deploy Synthetic-enabled ActiveGates and monitor them using OneAgent. I’m often amazed by how easy it is to set up monitoring for a new host. And it’s also easy to use it for performance testing our own products!
Have you ever had any interesting use case for the Dynatrace product, that you found out to be particularly intriguing? Could you tell us about it?
One thing that I like the most is the scripting ability of the Synthetic monitors that allows really creative ideas. Before last year’s Perform we’ve set up an HTTP monitor that checked the weather of several locations around Barcelona and marked the run as passed if the weather was good enough to go outside to sunbathe. The idea was fairly simple, but it gave us a very simple way of explaining multi-step HTTP monitors to our customers.
Why do you contribute to the Community? What is your favorite thing about it?
And how about your life outside the IT – what is your biggest passion?
It’s not the most surprising answer – but I love to travel, so far around Europe. The picture shows me walking around Paris trying to spot the tiny details of local street art and find the best coffee spot in the city. I also like to combine travelling with visiting local sports facilities to watch a football game, sometimes on a very amateur level – this activity is called groundhopping.
It would also be great if you could share with us your favorite movie, song and/or a book. Let other Community members discover something new and interesting to watch/hear/read 🙂
I’m mostly watching documentaries, but I really liked Atypical, a TV series about a young person with autism spectrum disorder that is growing into adulthood. As for the music, I’m probably one of the handfuls of Polish fans of a little-known Swedish band, Den Svenska Björnstammen 🙂 My favourite book genre is non-fiction, however, I’ve been rediscovering the Moomins lately.
Moomins were one of my favorite books from childhood – it’s great that they are still read to this day. Thank you, Mateusz for your being here and “in the trenches” of Dynatrace itself! Hope that when the COVID-19 goes away, you will have the opportunity to see as much of the world as you want.
