The Employee Member of the Month for October is with us for many years, and his knowledge and experience with Dynatrace can help all of us. @Tomislav F., thank you for being here! Besides voting and commenting on various RFEs, Tomislav also participates by answering (and asking) questions. Let’s hear his story.
Can you tell a little bit about your professional life? What is your role in the company and what do you do in your job?
I am a Solutions Architect in the Dynatrace Services team, and I have been with Dynatrace since 7 years. I work directly with many customers on designing DT implementations, configuring DT according to best practices, delivering trainings and analyzing performance issues.
What Dynatrace products do you use? What do you like the most about them?
I have worked with all DT classic products (e.g. AppMon, NAM, ESM, Synthetic Classic). Nowadays, I work with DT SaaS and Managed.
What I like about DT is how easy it is to get started with monitoring and the great extent to which DT can be configured to get the most value. What I like most about DT Managed is its multi-node architecture. Even though its inner-workings are sophisticated, it is easy to upscale at any time.
Have you ever had any interesting use case for the Dynatrace product, that you found out to be particularly intriguing? Could you tell us about it?
I find many aspects of DT intriguing, depending on the use case. Basically, each Smartscape layer has its own 'magic' that I find intriguing in DT. For example:
• Automation: The ability to deploy OneAgents on a large scale with minimal effort (even hundreds or thousands of OneAgents)
• Host / Processes / Services: The ability to automatically discover all processes and to drill down to the code level
• RUM (Applications): User action naming rules V2 is my favorite feature! It is very powerful and makes it flexible to create meaningful user action names
Why do you contribute to the Community? What is your best memory about it?
We have an amazing team and culture at DT where our product evolves at a very rapid pace (basically a new minor release every 2 weeks). Given the dynamic nature of our product and industry, RFEs (Requests for Enhancements) are an important way to contribute and to express potential limitations and areas where we can improve in future.
And how about your life outside the IT – what is your biggest passion?
I love sports (especially basketball and soccer), travelling, and astronomy. I find astronomy very fascinating as it makes one realize how incredibly tiny our planet and how mind-bogglingly big and unexplored our galaxy and universe is.
It would also be great if you could share with us your favorite movie, song and/or a book. Let other Community members discover something new and interesting to watch/hear/read 🙂
I love watching movies! Some of my favorite movies are: Interstellar, Star Wars, The Mandalorian (series), The Matrix and all Rocky movies. Especially the spirit and attitude of Rocky Balboa taught me to never give up and to work hard!
I always wanted to visit Philadelphia one day and check if climbing the stairs showed in “Rocky” is really that hard 🙂 Thank you once again, Tomislav for the interview and for contributing to our Community!
