We’re always happy to introduce our engaged Dynatracers with the customer-first mindset. One of them is @ryan_ott who’s activity in the last two months was truly outstanding. Let’s learn more what Ryan’s role is, how Dynatrace platform saves the days, and why music is his passion!

Can you tell a little bit about your professional life? Where do you work and what do you do in your job?
I am an ACE Services Consultant for Dynatrace, working with customers to provide assistance with Dynatrace monitoring implementations, training, and support. I love working directly with customers to show them the value and simplicity of Dynatrace monitoring. My favorite moment is when you can see the amazement on a customer’s face when installing the OneAgent – they can never believe how fast and easy it is!
What is your story with Dynatrace? Why did you start using our products and for what project?
I have been a part of the Dynatrace team for just over 2 years now, working with many customers to ensure their monitoring success. Began my journey with the product back in the fantastic Professional Development Program, PDP class 338 represent! I met some great friends during the 3-month training program, and learned a lot about both hard and soft skills to provide the best value for our customers as well as better utilize the Dynatrace platform.
Have you ever had any interesting use case for Dynatrace product that you found out to be particularly intriguing? Could you tell us about it?
There are many times where Dynatrace has ‘saved the day’ and even amazed me with the monitoring visibility it provides. One moment that stands out was when I worked with the Dynatrace Extensions team to develop an ActiveGate Extension to gather network device metrics for Cisco, F5, FortiGate, and ProofPoint devices – in lieu of an unexpected decommissioning of a separate network monitoring platform. The Extension was built quick and efficiently and provided major insight into critical network-related metrics, which Dynatrace was then able to leverage for root-cause analysis, custom charting, and alerting. Pretty cool!
What brought you to our community? What is your best memory about it?
I had found the Community when browsing for a solution to a problem I was dealing with, where I discovered that a different user had experienced a similar problem and received quick, valuable insight from another Community member.
And how about your life outside the IT – what is your biggest passion?
I love music – listening, writing, playing, and performing are my greatest passions. Music has always been a perfect form of expression for me, and I love that it’s such a universal language that can be shared and enjoyed by anybody.

- Favorite Movie: Probably Django Unchained, Interstellar, or Parasite. It is so hard to choose!
- Favorite Song: The Rain Song by Led Zeppelin.
- Favorite Book: Dune by Frank Herbert. I’m a sucker for good Sci-Fi.
