Dashboard - Reporting

ArneV

Im currently doing some monthly reporting in Dynatrace.

And as part of this i always have to select the previous month for this dashboard.

This part was solved by using  ArneV_0-1727696537301.png

Then i have to print it as PDF, because .. Well i have to, but everytime the recipient ask, did you select the correct period.

It would be great if i "just" could add a tile into my dashboard that shows the seleted time frame.

Has anybody a idea on how to do this?

Hi,

Have you tried to switch on "Default timeframe" on Settings editing the Dashboard?

About printing the Dashboard to PDF you can use Powerups extension which converts a Dashboard to PDF from Dynatrace.

Hope It helps.

I might not have been clear. But i do "get" / "have" my timeframe. And it matches always previous full month.

And i can print it to PDF, however i want to have the timeframe to be part of my Bashboard, like a header. So everybody who gets the PDF can see what period was selected.

Regards

Arne

Hey Arne,

Unfortunately I don't believe this is possible in classic dashboards. The closest I can think of would be having some sort of timeseries that has the timeframe below but that isn't particularly precise in displaying the start/end and so likely doesn't meet the requirements.

In new dashboards the timeframe is stored in a variable that can be used in any tile as seen below but the dashboards don't have a print to PDF feature.

Notebooks have the print to PDF feature but don't have the timeframe as a variable, however you could extract it from a timeseries. Unfortunately though, I don't believe the new timeframe picker supports the full feature-set of the original timeframe picker yet.

If the above doesn't work out (which I suspect it wont) then it may be good to see if there is a product idea for this already and if not then create one as it would be a nice to have alongside the title of a dashboard.

How did you add the markup box, that allows you to write the code?

This is a feature of the dashboards app in Dynatrace SaaS. These variables in markdown tiles are unfortunately not supported by dashboards classic. Also, as mentioned above, these new dashboards don't have a print to PDF feature. For that you might want to look at my suggestion to use notebooks.

If you still want to explore the new dashboards, when searching for the dashboards app you want to select "Dashboards" and not "Dashboards Classic".

If you are using Managed Dynatrace then neither the new dashboards or the notebooks are supported.

Well thats a shame, it would really have been a great idea to support this in the Classic version, since the SaaS isent an option.

Hi @ArneV

It's easy first of all the below screenshot is summarizing your requirements.

  • You can specify the management zone to ensure that dashboard report contents are delivered to the designated users as required.
  • The Dashboard will be shared as PDF so simply the recipients or you can print it as simple as that 😉👩‍💻.
  • You can also automate the printing dashboard as PDF as described by @erh_inetum.
  • You can also refer to the attached topic for more info.

KR,

Peter.

I will see if that fits our needs.

However i can see a feature in the subscription of the report. When i select monthly, it tells me i get it First monday of november, however i would certainly have expected it 1st November, or at least 1st Busnisday of norvember. So first monday in november, is certainly wrong.

I will also have a look at the 2 links you provided.

Arne

Well tried to follow your steps, however i only recieve a link to the report.

Not a PDF.
