Best practices to migrate from Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.9 to 8.7

Dear All,

What are the best practices to migrate the OS from Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.9 to Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.7 besides the documented information?

Is the in-place OS upgrade possible?

We will have to migrate several cluster nodes and ActiveGates.

Yes, in-place upgrade is supported of course and it's the recommended procedure.
Just be sure to follow the recommended procedure of applying OS patches. Basically is just an upgrade of the OS itself, just don't do more than one cluster node at once as the node is not available during OS upgrade.
And of course - have the backup if something fails.

Hello @Julius_Loman & @Radoslaw_Szulgo

Just an update. The customer's Linux administrators are reluctant to in-place upgrades due to their previous bad experiences with other applications.

So we end up with the replication method for a smooth OS/Cluster migration.

Babar
