"Non-privileged mode will be the default for OneAgent on Linux"

One thing that is not clear in this announcement is what it means for existing installs. Is there going to be a method to automate the process of converting from root to non-privileged? Or does this we will need to reinstall all OneAgents to make the conversion?

Thanks!

Hi Larry,

It's currently not possible to automate this during auto-update and we're not planning to provide means of doing so.

You need to manually reinstall the agents to apply the new configuration.

The good news is, you only need to do it once as afterwards the setting is preserved.

Regards,
Tomasz

But, there is nothing stopping us from leaving the current installs running as root, correct?

Correct. You can change the deployment mode when you find a suitable timeframe, or you can stick to the current one if you don't see an immediate benefit in switching to non-privileged one.

Thank you!
