Unexpected User Session Collection Despite Session Replay Being Disabled

HuseynNajafli

Hello everyone,
I am experiencing an issue where User Sessions are still being collected even though Session Replay has been disabled both at the individual application level and in the global environment settings.

Background:

  • Initially, User Sessions were not being captured.
  • For testing purposes, Session Replay was enabled temporarily.
  • After the test, Session Replay was disabled again from both the application settings and the environment-wide configuration.
  • Despite this, User Sessions continue to be recorded, and their count is increasing.
  • This is leading to significant and unnecessary DEM unit consumption.

Observations:

  • The Session Replay interface and behavior appear to have changed after re-enabling and then disabling it. It seems as though the feature remains partially active or enabled elsewhere.

  • There may be a hidden or residual configuration keeping the User Session tracking active.

Request:

Could you please assist in identifying:

  1. Why User Sessions are still being collected despite Session Replay being disabled?

  2. Whether there are any other settings or configurations (e.g., environment variables, tenant-level flags, API settings) that might still be enabling session data collection?

  3. How to completely disable both Session Replay and User Session capturing to stop further DEM usage?

Any guidance or clarification on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
