I am trying to configure a HTTP monitor from a private location where the URL is...http://example and the full url is http://example.corp.example1.com/sites/it/home.aspx.; problem I'm having is if you browse to the full URL I get this error...
Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. Please review the following URL and make sure that it is spelled correctly.
Requested URL: /sites/it/home.aspx
If I setup a HTTP Monitor on a private location for http://example, I get an unknown host error.
How would I set this up for a HTTP monitor? Is there a way to setup a DNS suffix in the synthetic configuration? By the way, this is a Sharepoint site.

I'd still like to know if this can be done, but I used a Browser monitor instead and created a clickpath monitor which resolved my issue.

Since this is for a private location you can update the hosts file. Possibly that would resolve this for HTTP Monitors.

Excellent idea! But it didn't work.

Your problem is likely related to a missing DNS suffix configuration for the host(s) on which the private location's ActiveGate's is/are running.
Configuration steps vary depending on the underlying OS and network setup (i.e. wether or not DHCP is used to obtain an IP). I suggest doing an internet search with the terms "DNS suffix" and "local DNS".
