When checking Deployment Status> ActiveGates> ActiveGate for an ActiveGate that is up to date, the Last Update status for Synthetic or Chromium shows as 'Failed', 'Skipped', or 'Rollback'
Since there are slightly different causes, this article will cover Chromium and Synthetic separately. However, the reason is essentially the same: there was previously an issue, and it was resolved by a manual update.
When checking Deployment Status> ActiveGates> ActiveGate, the Chromium Last Update status shows failed or skipped, even though Chromium is on the expected version
The Synthetic Installer sets the Last Update status for Chromium.
If the Chromium update failed when it was autoupdated, and the version of Chromium was then manually updated, this status will remain at Failed.
If the Chromium autoupdate setting is disabled, the Last Update status for Chromium will not be updated, as it will then be skipped by the installer.
The Status will only be set back to OK when a successful update of Chromium is made by the Synthetic installer.
